Janeesa Hollingshead

Janeesa Hollingshead is an experienced startup enthusiast with a knack for creating and scaling marketing and operations organizations.

Though her love for entrepreneurship was first evident when she was a child selling water to her neighbors door-to-door, her career began as the Digital Marketing Manager for Fundable (now Startups.com) where she helped beginner and seasoned entrepreneurs alike to raise funds for their businesses. In this role, Janeesa helped multiple businesses achieve equity crowdfunding goals through digital marketing, content, and PR strategies that landed placements on the front page of reddit, Forbes, TechCrunch, and more.

Shortly thereafter, Janeesa began a long career as an early Uber leader spanning multiple lines of business. She began launching Uber rides markets across the Midwest in January 2015, which included negotiating low-cost partnerships with the likes of Churchill Downs, the Breeder’s Cup, and the Lexington Legends as well as developing and implementing email automation strategies to increase rider retention rates across 23 Midwestern cities.

From there, Janeesa led Uber Eats’ launches (including the McDonald’s + Uber Eats roll outs) across multiple Midwestern states. In this role, she managed a team spanning restaurant operations, marketing, sales, and courier operations and consisting of approximately 50 employees.

Shortly thereafter, Janeesa joined the Uber Works team — then consisting of one engineer and one data scientist — to manage all things marketing, operations, and sales. She built a team from the ground up and led this team to a successful Uber Works pilot and launches across multiple cities, garnering over 100k users within a matter of months and developing the organization into centralized and localized operations to reach significant growth and profitability goals.

In August 2020, Julia and fellow ex-Uber exec Janeesa Hollingshead co-founded JJ Studio, which (1) consults startups on marketing, operations, product launch and expansion (2) launches new ventures developed in-house (3) invests in ventures through VC and angel funds (4) teaches and mentors ambitious entrepreneurs & investors and (5) supports causes through pro-bono work and donations. JJ Studio’s consulting arm has grown to 7 figures within 7 months of launch and transformed over a dozen startups through Julia’s & Janeesa’s hands-on involvement.

Besides building and scaling startups, Janeesa enjoys angel investing (On Deck Angels Fellowship member + One Way Ventures Limited Partner) and traveling the world. She is currently based in Chicago.
